Questions about the Professional Nurses Ring:
- Who can wear a Professional Nurses Ring?
The Nurses Ring was designed by RNs, for RNs. Any Registered Nurse or an Undergraduate Nursing
Student in their final year may wear the Nurses
Ring. We cannot police the purchasers of the ring, however, we find that due to the growing publicity of
the Nurses Ring and the Nurses Ring Project, those who do not qualify for the ring will not
wear one. If you have further questions, please contact us. [TOP]
- What does the design represent?
The ring displays a stylized N for Nursing, and the 5 soft curves of the
ring represent the 5 Points of Caring - Commitment, Compassion, Competence, Confidence, Conscience. For
more information, read about the ring. [TOP]
- What is the history behind the Nurses Ring?
The Professional Nurses Ring was designed as part of a project to recognize the Professionals that Educate
and Heal. You can read all about the history of the Nurses Ring, and also visit the
companion ring project - the Professional Teachers Ring. [TOP]
- Which organizations benefit from Nurses Ring sale proceeds?
Proceeds from the purchase of every Professional Nurses Ring sold in the U.S. are shared
with your participating local State Nurses Association, Nurses House, and the Foundation of the National
Student Nurses Association Scholarship Endowment Fund. [TOP]
Questions about the order process and purchase options:
- Why is the price of the Professional Nurses Ring increasing October 1st, 2000?
The Nurses Ring represents an excellent value. As part of the Professional Nurses Ring Program, we ensure that the quality of the ring is of the highest standard, heirloom quality. We also share a portion of the proceeds of every sale with nursing associations across Canada and the U.S. However, the price of the Nurses Ring hasnt changed since the mid-1990s, and yet the cost of doing business has been steadily increasing. In order to maintain the Professional Nurses Ring Program, the price of the Nurses Ring will increase a modest amount. This will allow us to cover increasing costs of business, and should forestall a further increase for a couple of years. If you have any further questions regarding the price increase, please contact us. [TOP]
- What is the price of the Nurses Ring?
See our order section for pricing and ordering information. [TOP]
- How do I find my ring size?
We recommend you visit your local jeweler to verify your current ring size. The
recommended professional designation finger, by international etiquette, is the pinkie
finger of your dominant hand. [TOP]
- On what finger, of which hand, should the Nurses Ring be worn?
The recommended professional designation finger, by international etiquette, is the pinkie
finger of your dominant hand. [TOP]
- Which credit cards do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Credit cards are
charged under the name White Sun.[TOP]
- Who is White Sun?
White Sun was formed, in large part, by the volunteer organizers who did the
initial Professional Nurses Ring development. White Sun is the corporate body that
holds the Nurses Ring patents and administers partnership agreements, marketing, and order
fulfillment duties. [TOP]
- How long does it take to get a Nurses Ring?
Nurses Rings take 4-6 weeks from the order date to the delivery date. International
orders may take longer - contact us for details. Payment
is processed immediately upon order placement. [TOP]
- Is rushed delivery available?
Rushed delivery is possible, in most cases, depending on the time of the year. A
surcharge will apply to rushed orders. Contact us for
more information. [TOP]
- How is the Nurses Ring shipped to me?
The Nurses Ring is delivered using Priority Mail (U.S.) and XPress Post (Canada). Signatures are
required in both cases; if no-one is at the residence during delivery, a card will be left notifying you
that your package is waiting at your local Post Office. International orders are
usually sent by courier - contact us for details. [TOP]
- What is the difference between Yellow and White gold?
Both are solid gold, in either 10 KT or 14 KT weights. The yellow gold Nurses Ring is as pictured
on this web site; the white gold Nurses Ring resembles a "warm" silvery metal. [TOP]
- What is the difference between 10 KT and 14 KT? Is one "better" than the other?
The karat signifies the gold content - 14 KT contains more of the gold metal than does 10 KT.
The coloring is very similar, with the 14 KT appearing slightly "yellower" or "warmer" than its
10 KT counterpart. If your skin is sensitive to jewelery wear, the 14 KT is a better choice, as it is
the alloy (non-gold) content which usually triggers a skin reaction. Gold is a fairly soft metal, so over a period
of years you may notice that a 10 KT ring will not show as much wear as a 14 KT ring. [TOP]
- What is your most popular order choices?
14 KT gold is our most popular weight, by almost 5-to-1. Yellow gold is our most popular color, by about
2-to-1, however it is interesting to note that white gold rings have been steadily gaining in
popularity during the Nurses Ring project. [TOP]
- Do you engrave rings?
No. We find that, with the ring being designated a pinkie ring, there
usually is insufficient space in the inside of the ring for engraving. Already in the interior of the band
is our goldstamp, the karat designation, and wsun.com - your
Lifetime Guarantee page on the Internet. You may,
however, engrave the ring upon receipt if you choose. [TOP]
- Why dont you offer 18 KT, Platinum, etc...?
The rings we offer are based on RN feedback. We were told that nurses
wanted the rings to be solid gold - the historical symbol of worth. They
must also be durable, hence the 10 KT and 14 KT weights. Would you like to
see a new metal choice offered? Let us know! [TOP]
- What kind of guarantee accompanies the ring?
The Professional Nurses Ring has a Lifetime Guarantee. You can
access your guarantee information by entering the Internet address stamped
into the inside band of every Nurses Ring - wsun.com. [TOP]
- A local jeweler saw the ring, and mentioned they could possibly make one for me for the same, or less, money. Why?
When you buy a Professional Nurses Ring, you are receiving more than the gold and craftsmanship that goes into every ring.
You are buying a ring that:
- has a Lifetime Guarantee,
- supports national nursing organizations,
- supports the marketing initiative to educate RNs and the Public
of the Professional Nurses Ring program,
- supports toll-free ordering and customer service, as well as this
Internet presence,
- was created through a multi-year process involving over 2,500 RNs worldwide,
based largely on volunteer effort.
Your local jeweler cannot offer these benefits to the RN community. For this reason, the Professional
Nurses Ring is protected by Patent, making it illegal to manufacture by anyone
other than White Sun. [TOP]
